5 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a New Jersey Commercial Cleaning Service

Hiring a commercial cleaning service can create much-needed change in your commercial space, whether it be a storefront, a gym, or an office building. With experienced cleaners on your side, your business will look and feel more professional, organized, and hygienic. However, to ensure you get the most out of your investment, there are a few questions you should ask before choosing a New Jersey commercial cleaning service.

1. What Services are Offered?

Some cleaning services offer much more variety than others. You'll want to ensure ahead of time that a service is fully capable of providing you with everything you need. This includes things like pressure washing, carpet cleaning, and window cleaning. While some cleaning services offer everything from cleaned sidewalks to stain-treatments, others have a more basic approach that may not accommodate your needs.

2. Are Employees Trained?

It may come as a surprise for some that not all commercial cleaning services actually train their employees, even the ones that claim to be a professional service. Like any other job, we should expect employees to go through a training program so they can:

  • Improve their skills and learn new ones
  • Thoroughly understand all safety protocols
  • Master the use of special equipment
  • Learn how to conduct themselves professionally
  • Understand expectations for both behavior and quality

In relation to this, you should also ask if all employees have received background checks regarding their previous work experience or any potential criminal history.

3. Do They Have Insurance?

You should always ask about a company's insurance policy before you decide to hire them. They should have high-quality, full coverage insurance available to ensure you never have to worry about any injuries or accidents occurring in your facility. Having insurance options is an indicator of professionalism and experience, so those without should be avoided.

4. Who Provides the Equipment?

Even if you have the equipment needed for a full-service commercial clean, you shouldn't be expected to supply it to a cleaning service. Asking this question ahead of time will save you from being surprised with having to purchase supplies or equipment at a later date. If a service is asking you to do this, whether it be buying them window spray or a pressure washer, they're likely inexperienced and not entirely reliable.

5. Are There Client Testimonials?

If a cleaning service has no client testimonials available for you to read, that's typically a bad sign. It's completely reasonable to want to know how other clients have felt about the process and end result of working with a company. If they have a bad reputation, or even no reputation, they're likely not an investment worth your time or money.
